Etiquette

Wedding invitation etiquette is to serve as a guideline. The most important thing is that you create beautiful invitations that represent you and communicate the details of your wedding day to your guests. Below are some key points to consider:

-

The bride is always named before the groom. If you are a same sex couple, names can be written in alphabetical order

-

The beginning of each line should not be capitalised. Your wedding invitation is one long sentence, so aside from proper nouns, only the day of the week, month and first letter of the year should be capitalised

-

Commas and full stops should not be added at the end of lines

-

All words should be spelled out. For example, 'Rd' should be written as 'Road'

-

While it may be tempting to put a ceremony start time that's earlier than the one you've planned, this is something to avoid. If your ceremony is at 3pm, expect guests to arrive between 2.30pm and 2.45pm. If you tell guests the ceremony will begin at 2.45pm, they’ll arrive closer to 2pm and end up waiting an hour to see you walk down the aisle
